REGULAR BOARD MEETING
AUGUST 18, 2015
7:00 P.M. Meeting called to order by: Terry Acton
Pledge of Allegiance: Respected by all Roll Call of Officers Present: Lee Dancer, Maye Rood, Terry Acton, Nancy Austin, John Scherrer
a. Jim Gelios: gave report on the Court House and improvements needed. A grant was applied
For 1.5 million to cover the serious improvements of roof, air conditioning, boilers, parking lot
Extension, lighting & security. The minutes of the Board of Commissioners is available at the
Hayes Township Office. Other topics were discussed.
b. Sheriff’s Department: Terry Acton said that Pat Bolander was going to Lincoln Twshp and
He will surely be missed in this township for many good reasons. Another Deputy will of course
replace Pat Bolander.

Unapproved minutes, Bills to be paid, Bills paid prior, Treasurer’s report, Sheriff’s Report
Motion by Terry Acton to approve the agenda, 2nd by John Scherrer, all ayes, M/C.
a. Rod Williams, Director of Ordinance and Zoning gave report on permits approved and citations notices given out. One trailer demolished, and 2 in the process, definitely helping rid the blight
situation in this township. Months of work involved but well worth it for safety and health hazard reasons.Rod requested 4 trail cams for his ordinance job @ the total cost of 450.00. These will make his
job more productive with fighting blight in the township.
a. Pleasant Plains Cemetery NEW Ordinance #2015-1 was read by Maye Rood. Cid Jones has revised the ordinance to be more clear, up to date with rules and cost. This is given to all who will be purchasing gravesites and is available at the township, upon request, for those who already have gravesites. This will be posted immediately and in effect on September 18, 2015
b. General Construction updates were given by Terry Acton , including the date of October 15th, 2015 as a move in date and the old building will be taken down with the driveway lowered and leveled for convenience with asphalt topping. The interior will still be worked on
a. Budget amendments will be done every month starting soon.
Board Requests: None
A resident brought up Waste Management and the dividing line was made clear to be WEST of
(The Freeway ) as the dividing line for Tuesday pickup. Another resident brought up Lapham Rd. being paved and Terry Acton said it is the strong
intention to have all of Ash Acres paved. After we move into our new offices and the construction is out of the way, we will have more room In the new building for property owners to attend these very important meetings regarding the paving of all of Ash Acres and it’s benefits. Petitions will need to signed and 51% will be needed for it to pass. SAD for asphalt roads increases the value of
the property, prices will be given and the terms.
Maye Rood brought up the HARRISON STREET FAIR on the 21st and 22nd of August. VOLUNTEERS are needed & a car show will be there on Friday morning amongst a lot of fun activities.
SEPTEMBER 8TH, (TUESDAY). @ 9 AM is ADOPT A FOREST CLEAN UP DAY by Hamilton Township &
Volunteers are needed to help clean up trash in the woods off Mostettler Road. Call Tressa Hubbard
for more information @ 989-426-9205. Dave Cooper is in charge of this project.
SEPTEMBER 16th, (WEDNESDAY) NORTHERN OAKS RECYCLING AND DISPOSAL FACILITY IS HAVING
A HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION (FREE)., from 10 a.m to 2 pm, Call 539-6111 formore information.
SEPTEMBER 19th ( SATURDAY) is the ELECTRONICS & TIRE RECYCLE DAY @ HARRISON CITY PARK from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
