Pledge of Allegiance: Respected by all
Roll Call of Officers: Terry Acton, Maye Rood, Lee Dancer, John Scherrer, Nancy Austin
Public Comments:
a. John Gelios : County Board Member
Gave report on the County Bldg. Five companies have put in bids on the Energy Project
for the County Bldg.
b. Pat Bolander: Sheriffs’ Department Gave report on Township and Neighborhood Watch
Meeting this coming week . Road commission representative to give information at the
April Neighborhood Watch meeting regarding the proposal on May 5th ballot.
They will also be stepping up their traffic control. Terry Acton mentioned the vandalism
done on the no exit signs at the Township Hall. Golf carts require all persons to be being buckled in unless they have a hard top. Golf carts are prohibited to be ridden in the middle of the roads.
Terry Acton is debating getting some security cams for the Construction Bldg.
c. Michigan Chloride Contract: Representative , Brad Harkness gave a report on materials
used on the roads for the brining process. There is a slight increase on cost of the new contract. Motion to approve contract by John Scherrer, 2nd by Terry Acton. All ayes, M/C

d. Four Wheelers are also becoming a problem in Hayes Township, Terry Acton said action will be taken on this matter. The County has control over speed limit signs and a study taken indicate that signs don’t work anyway. Drivers should know the speed limit and will be ticketed for speeding. 25 mph in neighborhoods is the limit!

Terry made motion to accept the Consent Agenda with the exception of February 17th. 2nd by John Scherrer, all ayes, M/C
Motion by Maye Rood to accept unapproved minutes of February 17, 2015 with correction to read
Middle Michigan Development Corporation in place of EDS , 2nd by Terry Acton, all ayes, M/C.
Motion by Maye Rood to accept resolution #14-22 re: Kitchen Grant of 37,500, 2nd by John
Scherrer. Roll Call: John Scherrer, yes, Maye Rood, yes, Lee Dancer, yes, Terry Acton, yes,
Nancy Austin, yes. M/C
Department Reports: Rod Williams/Ordinance & Zoning
a. Harrison RV, new business north of town was approved by the Planning Commission
b. Rod is back full time for his ordinance and zoning procedures beginning Monday,
March 23rd, 2015.
Unfinished Business:
a. Lind & Lind (Life Insurance) to be discussed at another meeting
b. Kitchen Grant for the New Bldg. Maye Rood announced that the township was granted
37,500 from USDA instead of the 50,000 applied for due to grants being cut 25%.

New Business :
a. Community Bldg: Terry Acton reported damage of 37,000 plus from broken pipes.
Bids being taken for repairs, building must be in working order before Election Day of May 5th, 2015.
b. Motion by Terry Acton requesting a budget proposal for next year from Treasurer, Maye
Rood and Clerk, Nancy Austin by April 15th, 2015 Terry Acton nominated John Scherrer
to be on the Budget Committee with him, 2nd by Maye Rood, all ayes, M/C
c. Maye is working with Harrison Economic Development Corporation and with SBIC in Clare
County to make all of Clare County a target place for good avenues to open up for improvements.
d. Neighborhood Watch meeting of the month of April will have a Road Commission Representative to speak about the proposal on the ballot coming up in the May election.
e. Terry brought up the fact of the article in the Review Newspaper, re: the Clerk and Township had resolved the issue. The issue is not resolved and is to be resumed at the May 20, 2015 meeting.
Board Requests:
a. The Clerk requests permission for Elections Worker “Alternates” to be paid 30.00 for being
on call for work in case an Election worker calls in ill. The Alternate, if called in, will get
a total of 150.00 for the day in line with what the other Election Workers receive.
Motion by Nancy Austin to pay the Election “Alternates” 30.00 a day, or a total of 150.00
for the day if called into work, 2nd by Terry Acton, All in favor, M/C.
Public Comments:
Joel Johnson joined the meeting and commented on the one proposal on the Ballot for the
May 5th, 2015 election regarding the sales tax. He is also on a Talent and Work Force
Development committee working with high school students to have vocational opportunities,
Our military service and with parolees, so that they don’t become repeat offenders.
14 people are on this problem solving committee.
He is pushing hard on a constitutional amendment regarding the ”lame duck” sessions in the
Legislator. He feels that we should not have people who don’t have any accountability to vote on issues.
Colonville Rd. destruction of pavement brought up and discussed. Terry Acton to look into this situation for the next meeting. Lapham Drive was brought up by residents and Stan will be looking into getting
a special assessment for Ash Acres to have it paved.
